SEO for Local Businesses Includes Local Schema
It is Worth the Trouble
I know Schema is hard. Don't worry, I'm going to give you what to copy. You'll just need to put in your information. The Local Schema for Business generators out there don't always work right and they create really ugly text that you have to put on your page or you get warnings from Google. For those of you who don't know: for each piece of "marked-up" information you have in schema, you must show that information on the page or you get in trouble. Your page will stop being offered by the search engines.
Important: Consistent Address
Here is why you need to do this: Google doesn't know that certain numbers in front of certain words mean an address and even when it does figure that out it doesn't know that the address is YOUR address for YOUR business.
Here is why you need to use the USPS Zip Tool and write the address exactly the same: Google's AI is smart but we don't know how smart. We can't leave it up in the air to understand that St, St., ST, and Street are always the same place. So, everywhere you have your address it needs to be the same: Chamber of Commerce, Yelp, Foursquare, etc.
My Code: Pretty but Simple
Here is My Code - it comes out looking nice but it doesn't mark up your logo and other things. It marks up your business name, your name and your address. It marks up your telephone number and makes it clickable, too. Replace the info with yours and be careful to not change anything else.
<div itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/LocalBusiness">
<span itemprop="name">YOUR BUSINESS NAME HERE</span><br>
<span itemprop="telephone"><a href="tel:555-555-5555">555-555-555</a></span><br>
<div itemprop="address" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/PostalAddress"><br>
<span itemprop="streetAddress">5555 MOCKINGBIRD LN</span><br>
<span itemprop="addressLocality">CITYHERE</span>,<span itemprop="addressRegion"> NC</span><span itemprop="postalCode"> 28078ZIPHERE</span><br></div>
<span itemprop="email"><a href="mailto:[email protected]">[email protected]</a></span></div>
For More Complete Schema ...
You can contact me for more complete schema. It marks up a lot more but it comes out not as nice looking format wise, but it is advantageous for search engines to know what your logo is and have a description of your business, for example.
